  Can owning/reading apostate material get me DF'ed?

  hello, first time poster, long time reader.. i was wondering just what my title asks.

  if i own/read/admit to apostate material, can that get me df'ed?.

  i know better then to admit that i believe the apostate material to the elders, or that i disagree with the society's teachings, but will simply admitting to owning and reading them get me df'ed?.

  You can be DF for any sort of disobedience for which: 1) you are not repentent, 2) you confess or there are two witnesses. If there are two witnessess to you owning/reading the books then you've promoted apostacy to those two people. When it gets to the three Commmitty members, then you've exposed five people to such evil things.

  You'd better be seen to be a rock solid JW, have an excuse, and repent like crazy. If it's well known in the congo that you have them (like after the elderettes get to work telling everyone), you fate is nearly sealed but you may still getaway with a public reproof.

  Good luck - best just to fade away IMO.

  What do Americans actually really know about???

  what do americans in general actually really know about the big outside world outside of their own culture?.

  it's certainly not just me, but for years since early childhood in fact, it has been commonly accepted by many, that americans in general are the biggest ignorant fools residing almost anywhere on the planet, yet they still do their damndest to have everyone believe what a great nation they are.

  is it even beyond their comprehension how foolish they look often to the rest of the world, the fact that they have so little understanding of problems on the worldwide front?.

  IMO, the western world, is the western world, is the western world... it's just that some western countries are more western than others (especially the one where Cowboy Shrub is President...)

  anyone have any funny virgin honeymoon stories?

  none here- but my brother & his wife- both good witnesses got married- didn't get to complete the act for 6 weeks- his wife had no idea he was so big- and kept crying & was afraid.

  We had a bit of the ole' 'mutual masterbation' going for a while, and that was much better than the early times we did 'the real thing' after the wedding; that was nowhere near as good as the furtive groping in the car (when parked), or one of us, umm, 'servicing' the other (while driving)... (Still miss that:-)

  Funnier thing... older Sis in the Congo 'confided' in my wife that her daughter phoned her from their overseas honeymoon becuase they couldn't figure out how to do it... maybe they were joking (v.sick joke)????

  It was just another change. I sort of thought: 'we're not JW coz the end will be here in 1914 + x years. This is a fix up of an over enthusiastic understanding from years ago. Wonder who's weak enought to fall off coz of this?'

  So I guess I just rationalised it. It never really worried me. I was always more taken by the Danial phrophesy of the Kings of the North and South. Could read a lot into the current situation - KofS inexplicity withdrew in 1992, but is now ready to strorm back into the holy place of the totalitarian Islamic KofN to face destruction in the holy lands (or smothing like that...)

  JW marriages

  since jw are not allowed to live together and cannot have sexual relations before they get married are many jw marriages unhappy?

  i hear that they think jw marriages are much happier than normal marriages...can anyone verify that?.

  An older Sis told my wife that her daughter phoned her on her wedding night - they were having trouble figuring out what to do!!!!!!! I kinda presume that daughter & son-in-law were taking the piss out of the old lady, but she really beleived it!!! ;-) We cacked ourselves laughing!

  Max - who bloody well hopes they could figure out what to do.....

  I married at 22 as a virgin JW. Even though I love my wife (who left at the same time as me, thank god) and wouldn't betray her, now at 33 I wonder what it'd be like to be with another woman. Somtimes I want to find out. I wonder if there's good reason behind the traditional thing of guys 'spreading the wild oats' before settling down?

  JW's and drinking

  is it just me, or is alchohol consumption at parties and vacations virtually an unwrittten rule of jw-culture?.

  when i was in, i did not drink, and i still don't.

  i often felt almost ostracized for this by my jw associates.

  How could anyone be a JW and NOT drink like a lizzard??? The only way the poor soles can keep any semblance of sanity!!! IME, no one really cared too much if people drank too much. Officially it's not on, but there was enough subjectivness in deciding if a person was drunk or not, to be able to turn a blind eye. If they were blind, comatose and totally smashed, they needed christian kindness - like to sleep on the floor or somthing. One of the few good sides of JWism.

  Hic, hic, hic... I'm half way thru my 2nd bottle of wine now, so I'm well trained by the JW :-0)

  Circuit Overseers and Corruption

  as an ex presiding overseer and public affairs spokesperson who is now disfellowshipped!!!

  i am new to this site and have read with keen interest the many and varied topics that have been posted.

  during my 9 years of presiding i encountered certain corrupt c/os for example the friends would treat them like little demy gods, hanging onto their every word, they would, on their visit influence the brothers to part with cash for privledges.

  Hi - We had the truly bizzar and unbeleivable situation of having -wait for it... it really is true... two consecutive COs DF'd while still serving our circut!

  We'd gone through a funny patch where COs weren't staying long - family problems, ill health etc etc. So there wasn't a regualr CO for about 2 years.

  Then they got a guy from a well known family who'd been in corporate life in the past. Legend has it that he started doing odd things like just showing up at meetings without an invitation. He was DF.

  The replacement was a true gentleman. He was a kind hearted sort of a guy, but his wife was a cow. Unfortunatly it all got a bit much and he succumed to the charms of an old lady friend and was DF too.

  The third guy was too boring to ever put a foot wrong and was creepy too. I never talked to him in the four visits he made before I left! His MS/E meeting were like pulling teeth.

  But he was one of only about two COs I didn't like. The other was when I was small. He scared me from the platform. I saw him years later, and he still scared me in a creepy way. Like a tingle up the spine.

  Oh well... that's how it was. And all that really is true... I don't have the imagination to make it up or the inclination to sprout nonscene no-one would believe.
